{"id":1185,"date":"2022-03-20T16:23:41","date_gmt":"2022-03-20T16:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northeastwales.wales\/things-to-do\/gladstones-library\/"},"modified":"2024-05-20T14:41:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T13:41:04","slug":"gladstones-library","status":"publish","type":"lsvr_listing","link":"https:\/\/www.northeastwales.wales\/cy\/things-to-do\/gladstones-library\/","title":{"rendered":"Llyfrgell Gladstone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mewn pentref bach yng Ngogledd Cymru mae llyfrgell breswyl orau Prydain.<\/p>\n<p>Llyfrgell Gladstone ym Mhenarl\u00e2g yw unig lyfrgell Brif Weinidogol Prydain, ac mae\u2019n gofeb genedlaethol i\u2019r gwladweinydd Fictoraidd arbennig, a\u2019r Prif Weinidog bedair gwaith, William Gladstone.<br \/>\nMae\u2019n gartref i gasgliad unigryw o fwy na 250,000 o eitemau argraffedig ac yn cynnig amgylchedd cyfforddus, cymdeithasol a chyffrous yn ogystal ag adnoddau ar gyfer astudio creadigol gan gynnwys casgliadau enwog o ddeunyddiau diwinyddol, hanesyddol, diwylliannol a gwleidyddol.<\/p>\n<p>Sefydlwyd y llyfrgell gan Gladstone yn 1894, roedd yn awyddus i rannu ei lyfrgell bersonol gydag eraill, yn enwedig y rheiny oedd am ddysgu ond oedd yn wynebu cyfyngiadau ariannol. Byddai\u2019n gadael i blant ac oedolion deallus pentref Penarl\u00e2g ddefnyddio\u2019i gasgliad. Ei ddymuniad, yn \u00f4l ei ferch Mary Drew, oedd \u2018dod a llyfrau oedd heb ddarllenwyr at ddarllenwyr oedd heb lyfrau\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Gyda chymorth ei was ac un o\u2019i ferched yn unig, roedd Gladstone dros ei wyth deg oed pan aeth a\u2019r 32,000 o lyfrau dri chwarter milltir rhwng ei gartref yng Nghastell Penarl\u00e2g a\u2019r llyfrgell. Fe\u2019u dadbaciodd a\u2019u rhoi ar silffoedd gan ddefnyddio ei system gatalogio ei hun.<\/p>\n<p>Yn dilyn ei farwolaeth yn 1898, lansiwyd ap\u00eal gyhoeddus am arian i ddarparu adeilad parhaol ar gyfer y casgliad ac i ddisodli\u2019r strwythur dros dro. Darparodd y \u00a39000 a godwyd adeilad urddasol, wedi ei gynllunio gan John Douglas, a agorwyd yn swyddogol gan yr Iarll Spencer ar 14 Hydref 1902 fel Cofeb Genedlaethol i W.E. Glandstone. Llwyddodd y teulu Gladstone eu hunain i gyflawni gweledigaeth y sylfaenydd drwy ariannu\u2019r rhan breswyl, a groesawodd ei breswylydd cyntaf ar 29 Mehefin, 1906.<\/p>\n<p>Heddiw mae\u2019r llyfrgell yn ferw o weithgaredd ac yn croesawu ymwelwyr o bob rhan o\u2019r byd. Y flaenoriaeth yw adeiladu a magu rhwydwaith eang o awduron a meddylwyr er mwyn cadw etifeddiaeth Gladstone o holi cwestiynau cymdeithasol, moesol ac ysbrydol i fynd, gan helpu pobl i adlewyrchu\u2019n ddyfnach ar faterion a syniadau sydd o ddiddordeb iddynt. Ar agor i\u2019r cyhoedd am 50 wythnos y flwyddyn, mae 26 ystafell b\u0175tic yn Llyfrgell Gladstone, ac mae yno siop goffi \/ bwyty \u2013 Food for Thought.<\/p>\n<p>Os ydych awydd newid o\u2019ch caffi arferol, mae\u2019n bwyty <i>Food for Thought<\/i> yn berffaith ar eich cyfer.
