1. Furniture Upcycling – Painting techniques
Led by Bernadette O’malley who has been upcyclying furniture for many years (even before it was
fashionable) her work can be seen www.stateofdistress.co.uk
This in-depth course covers:- Image Transfer, Gilding, Craqueleur, Frottage, Ombre and Annie’s
individual style of applying stencils.
We supply you with all the materials and you’ll leave the workshop with two beautiful boards with all
the techniques we cover.
2. Lampshade Making Workshop
Hosted by Margaret Hinds of Margaret’s Soft Furnishings.
Normally Margaret Hinds hand crafts lamps, lampshades and matching cushions from her home workshop on Anglesey North Wales. As a member of the North Wales Craft Workers Association and Artisans Wales, she enjoys attending the Makers Markets and fairs and loves meeting customers and discussing new projects, and delights in them achieving great results.
Bring with you 1/2m of your chosen fabric and Margaret will provide the kits, you will then make a 20cm drum lamp or light-shade with your chosen fabric. At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to buy further kits to take home with you to make more shades! Bases of lamps will be decorated so you will have decorated and made your whole lamp!
3. Felt Art
Hosted by Tilly Tea Dance – Maxine Smith
A textile artist and Tutor based in Shrewsbury, she takes her inspiration from the dramatic landscape, coastline, hillsides, hedgerows and gardens of Britain to create unique pieces of arts and embroidery. Produce your own piece of felted wool art, in this full day creative workshop with, Maxine Smith, she will guide you to create a beautiful piece of felted and embroidered artwork which will be framed for you to take home.
