More Ideas & Local Spots to Explore

  • Cadw Sites — Many of the historic sites often have Halloween/ autumn-trail style events, ghost stories, spooky guided tours etc. The Spooky Halloween Trail at Denbigh Castle is one example. It’s worth keeping an eye on the Cadw website for last-minute additions. Cadw+1
  • Historic houses & museums — Places like Ruthin’s historic sites might have related seasonal events. Even if not specifically Halloween, exploring old houses, gardens, etc., can be atmospheric at this time of year.
  • Countryside walks & woods — Autumn colours, falling leaves, misty mornings etc. Denbighshire has lots of lovely landscapes where a twilight walk or a forest walk can set the mood.
  • Pick your own Pumpkins– available in farms and orchards around North East Wales, keep an eye on social media for more information.

Tips for Visiting & Enjoying Safely

  • Check times & tickets ahead — Some events (like the fire walk) may need booking in advance, especially for participants.
  • Dress for the weather — Late October in Wales can be chilly/wet, especially in the evening. Layers, waterproofs, sturdy footwear are essential.
  • Transport & parking — Popular events may have limited parking or access issues. Try to arrive early, share lifts, and check local transport options.
  • Beware of scary content — If going with young children, check how “scary” an event is in advance (haunted houses, ghost walks, etc.). Some experiences may be more intense than others.
