Winter staycations in North East Wales

North Wales is  renowned for being in the top 10 destinations in the world according to Lonely Planet and it makes for the perfect holiday getaway.

Our corner of Wales has stunning coastline, rich heritage and family adventures. With an area of outstanding natural beauty, quaint rural towns, stunning coastline and an 11 mile long World Heritage Site.

We know how difficult it is to plan a holiday during these expensive times. It’s difficult to escape the news bulletins and the uncertainty of rising costs. However, sometimes a last minute staycation may be what’s needed to gain a little perspective, without costing the earth.  North East Wales is much nearer than you think  and surprisingly easy to get to keeping your travelling costs to a minimum.  We are handily placed for the A55 expressway to the west, the M62 travelling east, the M53 and M56 going north and the A5 and M54 heading south. Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham are all less than 2 hours away, and even London and Glasgow aren’t too much of a push.

We have a range of affordable and quirky accommodation with something for all tastes and budgets, here are a few ideas we would like to share with you.

  1. Bluebell Corner at  The Forge in Corwen is open all year around and when you book to stay this winter you can add on a Winter Adventure Experience for just £60 per couple. Choose from wild swimming, foraging, campfire cooking and axe throwing!

2. With lodges  called  the Dog House and Owl Lodge  at Faraway  Follies in Llandegla  they are unique & individual in their character and styling as their names suggest. Offering comfortable and yet sophisticated accommodation, they all come with hot tubs for a truly relaxing stay.

3. Everyone these days knows what glamping is all about, but  Safari Lodges at  Pentre Mawr  take it to another level. Imagine checking into your very own canvas hotel suite, complete with a private hot tub.

You can relax in your own sitting room with big sofa, whilst your Nespresso coffee machine is making you the perfect cup of coffee. Enjoy your hospitality area with all of the little things you’d expect.

Then wander out to your secluded terrace and hop into your private hot tub. Don’t worry they will have it hot and ready to go! The sound of our little mini Shetlands wandering around the lodges will make you imagine there are lions patrolling the area and an early call of the fox could be a hyena in the distance..

4. The Laundry Retreat  is a truly unique holiday accommodation nestled between Denbigh and Ruthin, bordering the village of Llanrhaeadr.  It offers effortless luxury designed just for adults who want to unplug and unwind in the  stunning views of the Clwydian range, notably an area of outstanding natural beauty,  book now. Their gardens are something very special too,  guests are encouraged to feel at home within the garden and enjoy what the seasons have to offer, from snowdrops in February through to full summer borders and autumn foliage.

But best of all our fresh air is free. Our walks and national trails,  our AONB landscape, our World Heritage site is all free to look at, with just minimum parking fees at the most popular sites. Take another look, you’ll be surprised what we can pack into such a small area of Wales.
