St Giles Parish Church to relaunch popular Tower Climbs

Wrexham’s medieval St Giles Parish Church will this month re-launch a new season of their popular tower climbs starting on Saturday 5th April.
The climbs, totalling 135ft or 149 steps – offer the public stunning views of the city centre, the Berwyn Hills, the Cheshire plain and even as far as Snowdonia and the two Liverpool cathedrals (on a good day!), take place at 11.00am and 12.00pm on the first Saturday of the month.

St Giles Parish Church tower is recognised as one of the ‘seven wonders of Wales’ and hosts the peel of 10 bells which are heard across town each day. Those taking part in each climb will have the opportunity to tour the bell ringing room, and enter the clock room and the bell chamber to see these magnificent bells close-up!
Originally cast in Gloucester in 1726, the bells were sailed up the River Severn and transported to St Giles by horse & cart. How they were lifted into place remains a feat of remarkable engineering, but you’ll find out how on the tour.
